why live in households
At the very heart of our faith lies the belief that we are not created to be alone; we are made to be a gift to another. That's communion. For many of us, this will one day be lived out in marriage or a consecrated state in life. Until then, we can choose a way of living that forms us for self-gift. This starts with living a life of having dominion over what God has entrusted to us. In Genesis, God invites Adam and Eve to have dominion over all other created things. That means taking responsibility for structuring our time, finances, habits, etc. in a way that brings glory to God . While living in community isn't the only way to do this, it is one of the best. Living in communion from a place of having dominion, leads us to a life on mission, sent forth by Christ to "make disciples of all nations" (Matthew 28:19).
Through practices of prayer, following a rule of life, and a common household mission, Christ can form our hearts to look more like His own. That's what it's all about.
